GOD of LOVE and FAMILY

God is a God of Love, so there are three sins He hates:
1) Idolatry breaks the bond of love between God & Humankind
2) Adultery breaks the bond of love between Husband & Wife
3) Child Sacrifice breaks the bond of love between Parent & Child
God understands love and is the Author of love:
1) Sarah was very beautiful (Genesis 12: 11 & 14) * Rebekah was very beautiful (Genesis 24:15-16)
* “Rachel was beautiful in form and appearance.” (Genesis 29:17) * “Jacob kissed Rachel.”
(Genesis 29:11) [“Love at first sight.”] * “Jacob loved Rachel.” (Genesis 29:18)
2) “When a man has taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war or be charged with any business.
He shall be free at home one year and bring happiness to his wife whom he has taken.”
(Deuteronomy 24:5)
3) “He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.” (Proverbs 18:22)
4) “Let your fountain be blessed and rejoice with the wife of your youth. As a loving deer and a
graceful doe, let her breasts satisfy you at all times, and always be enraptured with her love.”
(Proverbs 5:18-19) (Read “Song of Solomon” for the mutual joys of passionate, erotic love.)
5) “Who can find a virtuous wife? Her worth is far above rubies. ... She does him good and not evil
all the days of her life. ... She opens her mouth with wisdom and kindness. ... Charm is deceitful
and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord shall be praised.” (Proverbs 31:10-31)
6) “Happy is the man whose wife is his lover and whose lover is his wife.” (Proverbs 32:1)
7) Don’t forget the triple warning in Song of Solomon 2:7, 3:5 & 8:4.
God’s First Purpose (Original Purpose of Creation = OPOC) is God’s Final Purpose: The Kingdom of
Heaven on Earth through Ideal Families, beginning with a single couple.
1) Genesis, Chapters 1 & 2 [Expand the ideas here at length.] – Adam & Eve = False Parents
2) Lamentations 5:3 – “We have become orphans and fatherless.” [i.e., without parents]
3) John 14:18 – “I will not leave you orphans.” [Jesus speaking]
4) Revelation 19:6-16 – “The Marriage Supper of the Lamb has come and his bride has made
herself ready ... arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright.” (7-8) To this brief portrait of the Bride is
added this portrait of the Bridegroom – the Rider on the White Horse: “Behold, a white horse
and he who sat on him is called Faithful and True. ... He had a name written that no one knew
except himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and his name is called the Word of
God.” [Read and explain more. Also compare Revelation 2:17, where Jesus says, “I will give him
a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who
receives it.”] This new couple – Bride & Bridegroom -- comes to fulfill God’s Original Purpose of
Creation, which is, of course, God’s Final Purpose of Restoration & Providential History.
5) To emphasize this point that the Kingdom of Heaven must be established “on Earth,” Jesus
makes this quite clear in what we call The Lord’s Prayer. (Matthew 6:9-13 & Luke 11:2-4)
6) Explicate in detail Malachi 2:11-16: Marriage is God’s Holy Institution & He hates divorce.
7) Explicate Exodus 20:14, Job 31:1, Matthew 5:27-28 & 31-32, and Mark 10:2-12.
8) Explicate in detail Paul’s sage advice to couples in 1 Corinthians 7:2-5 and 9 – “It is better to
marry than to burn with passion.” (See also Ephesians 5:22-33 and Hebrews 13:4 – “Marriage is
honorable among all and the marriage bed is undefiled.”)
9) Read & compare Revelation 11:4 and Zechariah 4:11. [There is a resonance between the Old
Testament and the New Testament.]
10) Revelation 21:2 & 9-10 – KoHoE expands as a mustard seed with each new couple.
