THE PRIMACY OF THE WORD: The Word Is Our Lifeline to God

Deuteronomy 32:46-47 -- Keep in mind all the words I am solemnly proclaiming to you today! You must command your children to observe carefully all the words of this law. For this is no idle word for you! It is your life! By this word, you will live a long time in the land you are about to cross the Jordan River to possess. [NET]

Deuteronomy 6:4-9 -- Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all you heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and you shall talk about them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. (Repeated in 11:18-21 & emphasized by Jesus in Matthew 22:34-40)

Deuteronomy 32:1-5 & 28-29 -- Listen, O heavens, and I will speak! Hear, O earth, the words of my mouth! … I will proclaim the name of the Lord! You must acknowledge the greatness of our God. As for the Rock, His work is perfect and all His ways are righteous. He is a reliable God who is never unjust. His people have been unfaithful to him. They have not acted like His children -- this is their sin. They are a perverse and deceitful generation. … They are a nation devoid of wisdom, and there is no understanding among them. I wish that they were wise and could understand this, and that they could comprehend what will happen to them. [JHK Note: What Moses spoke to the Children of Israel as they were poised in Moab and about to cross the Jordan River into the Promised Land with Joshua were words of both assurance and warning -- both of which are highly relevant to the situation of America today!]

Deuteronomy 31:29 -- I know that after I die, you will totally corrupt yourselves and turn away from the path I have commanded you to walk. Disaster will confront you in future days because you will act wickedly before the Lord, inciting Him to anger because of your actions.

Psalm 119:105 -- Your Word is a lamp to walk by, and a light to illumine my path.

Proverbs 30:5 -- Every Word of God is pure, a shield to those who trust Him.

Philippians 2:15-16 -- Be blameless and pure children of God without blemish though you live in a crooked and perverse society in which you shine as lights in the world by holding on to the Word of Life.

Hebrews 4:12-13 -- The Word of God is living and active, and sharper than any double-edged sword. … It is able to judge the desires and thoughts of the heart.

Matthew 24:35 -- Heaven and Earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
