Return to the Word
October 9, 2025Immerse Yourself in the Word! Dive right in! Swim in it! * “My Word Is Life!”
James 1:22 – “Do not merely listen to the Word. Do what it says.” [JHK Note: Take a look in your Bible Concordance – immediately after “Word” comes “Work.” Noah got the Word to build an Ark and then spent a hundred years doing the Work to build that Ark and so saved himself and his family from the Flood Judgment by FOA = Faith – Obedience – Action.]
Deuteronomy 11:18-21 – “Fix these Words of mine in your hearts and minds! Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads! Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road [JHK Note: Reflect on Jesus talking to two men while walking along the Road to Emmaus in Luke 24:13-35], when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates [Jewish families do this in America], so that your days and the days of your children may be many in the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors, as many as the days that the heavens are above the Earth.”
Psalm 119 – Read it. Read all of it. Then read it again. “Psalms” is the longest of the sixty-six books of the Bible, and Psalm 119 is the longest of the Psalms. The writer is singing the praises of the Lord God Almighty – “your precepts, your ways, your decrees, your word, your commands, your law, your wonderful deeds.” “Your testimonies are my delight.” (24) “I will delight myself in your commandments, which I love.” (47) “Your Word has given me life.” (50) “I will keep your precepts with my whole heart.” (69) “Oh, how I love your law!” (97) “How sweet are your Words to my taste, sweeter than honey in my mouth!” (103) “I have inclined my heart to perform your statutes forever, to the very end.” (112)
Deuteronomy 32:46-47 – “Set your hearts on all the Words of this Law because it is your life, and by this Word you shall prolong your days in the land.”
Job 33:4 – “The breath of the Almighty gives me Life.” [The Word comes from the breath.]
2 Timothy 3:16 – “All Scripture is given by the breath [word, inspiration] of God.”
Proverbs 3:1-2 – “Let your heart keep my Commands, for they will bring you long life.”
Proverbs 3:13, 15, 16, 18 – “Happy is the man who finds Wisdom! .. She is more precious than rubies. .. Length of days is in her right hand. .. She is a Tree of Life to all who take hold of her.” [That Wisdom is God’s female companion is clear from Proverbs 8, especially 22-36 – “Whoever finds me finds life, and obtains favor from the Lord.” (35)]
Proverbs 13:14 – “The Law of the wise is a fountain of life.”
John 1:1, 4, 14 – “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. .. In him was Life. .. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”
John 14:6 – “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.” [Truth becomes known by the Word.]
Deuteronomy 32:46-47 – “Set your hearts on all the Words of this Law because it is your life, and by this Word you shall prolong your days in the land.”
